It was very exciting. Four years ago when the mayor of San Francisco allowed gay marriage despite it’s illigality, some 4,000 couples turned up. All of those marriages were annulled by the state. So on May 15 2008, after the court ruling, the city tried again. Most of those in line in the 2008 San Francisco wedding party were the same couples who were told their marriage was illegal in 2004. One couple had with them an adopted son named after the mayor himself. I read all about this in the paper when it happened. It was very exciting.
